Application and disinfection standards for chlorine-containing disinfectants

 Definition of available chlorine: The oxidizing capacity of chlorine-containing disinfectants is equivalent to the amount of chlorine, which is a sign of the oxidation ability of chlorine-containing disinfectants. The effective chlorine content is expressed in mg / L or percentage (%). Conversion: 1% effective chlorine concentration = 10000ppm = 10000mg / L.

Scope of application: General chlorine-containing disinfectants are suitable for disinfection of general surfaces of medical and health institutions, public places and households, medical equipment, medical waste, food and drinking utensils, fabrics, fruits and vegetables and water. Treatment of pollutants.

    Disinfection methods and standards: immersion method, wipe method, spray method, dry powder disinfection method. 

(1) Soaking method: Immerse the items to be disinfected in a container containing a chlorine-containing disinfectant solution and cover it. Items contaminated by bacterial propagules: Soak for more than 10 minutes with 500mg / L of effective chlorine, blood-borne pathogens, mycobacteria, bacterial spores: 2000mg / L--5000mg / L, soak for more than 30 minutes 

(2) Wiping method: Large items or other items that cannot be sterilized by soaking are wiped and disinfected. The solubility and action time used for disinfection are the same as the soaking method. 

(3) Spraying method:-The surface of general contaminated articles; 400mg / L--700mg / L, the action time is 10 minutes-30 minutes or more. For blood-borne pathogens, mycobacteria, spores and other contaminated surfaces: more than 2000mg / L for more than 60 minutes. There is a strong irritating odor after spraying and personnel should leave immediately. 

(4) Dry powder disinfection method: To disinfect fecal matter, use dry powder containing chlorine disinfectant to add to the fecal matter.
