ORP Values In Water
1. Introduction
ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential. So what is that? The best definition I can give is that “ORP is a measure of the cleanliness of the water & its ability to break down contaminants”. It has a range of –2,000 to + 2,000 and units are in “mV” (millivolts).
The ORP-2626 orp water tester is an ORP mini controller that has been designed for easy, affordable installation in tight spaces, ideal for simple yet effective process control. As a result of its compact size, the ORP-2626 can be installed right next to tanks or vats.

Orp Values In Water FAQ:
1.What should ORP be in pool?
If there is a disagreement between ORP-derived PPM values and test kit readings, it's usually due to the effects of contaminants. The recommended ORP level for pools and spas is between 650 and 750 mV. It can be even higher in very clean water. Theabsolute minimum of 650 mV applies to both chlorine and bromine.
2.What is ORP in a reef tank?
The oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of marine aquaria is a measure of the relative oxidizing power of the water. It has often been recommended to aquarists as an important water parameter, and some companies sell products (equipment and chemicals) designed to control ORP.
3.What does a high ORP mean?
Oxidation-reduction potential, or ORP, is a measurement that indicates the degree to which a substance is capable of oxidizing or reducing another substance. ORP is measured in millivolts (mv) using an ORP meter. A positive ORP reading indicates that a substance is an oxidizing agent.
4.What is the ORP of tap water?
The ORP of most tap water in North America is between +200 to +600mv, ie. these waters are oxidizing agents. High pH ionized water demonstrates a –ORP and so is a reducing agent or “antioxidant”. Most bottled waters are acidic (low pH) –many are quite acidic — and also have higher ORPs (over +400mv).
